Depending on which is right for your family, you might have been questioning whether or not it would be wise to get an air conditioner or swamp cooler. Both can work well but there are some things that will help you in your decision making process.
Many love the price and the deals they can get with swamp coolers. They work through using a fan and absorbing pads. The pads absorb water and as the air from the fan passes through it cools down.
The great thing about swamp cooler is that all you really need is a water pump, fan, and the energy to keep your house cold during those blistering hot months. Depending on your needs it typically will only use a couple gallons of water a day.
There are a few cons to swamp coolers. First, there are some that are louder, be careful that you buy a quieter one. Second, some don’t allow circulation of the air through the whole house. Third, It won’t dehumidify your home.
Also, if you don’t constantly keep a window open you can have humidity problems. The air temperature will also begin to rise.
Air conditioners on the other hand cool air through compressing cool Freon gas. This gas is then turned into a liquid that is cool and dehumidified. The air will be the perfect temperature and will circulate well through your home.
If money is a big issue to you, the smartest thing might be to go with a swamp cooler. They are very cost efficient. Depending on you needs you can get great cooler specials or deals but even without them they are a lot less expensive than air conditioners.
