IELTS Preparation: What Are Some Important Steps You Can Take To Pass The IELTS?

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing. This test is required for people who are seeking to enter certain countries in order to work or attend school. If you are hoping to pass the IELTS proper preparation is in order to ensure your success. In this article I’m going to discuss a few very important steps you’ll need to take in order to have a good chance of passing the IELTS.

Do not use slang

When taking the test be careful not to use slang. You are not talking to to friends or family. These mental mistakes can end up costing you dearly. Here are a few words to avoid

Do not use gonna instead of going to, dunno for don’t know, or wanna for want to. These are just a few you should avoid.

Instead of contractions, practice using full forms.

You will be given the option of joining words (contractions) or keeping them separate. Some example of contractions are I’ll for I will, you’ll for you will, can’t for can not and wouldn’t for would not.

You’ll need to be aware of a lot of types of these words. You may use them on the speaking part of the test but not in the writing.

Practice the writing portion

This is probably one of the most important parts of the test. When you’re taking the writing portion you want to make sure not to use weird spellings you’ve become accustomed to because of technology. This means you won’t want to use abbreviated phrases like u instead of you, cya instead of see you, and other abbreviated ways of talking. Internet chat rooms and communication devices such as Skype have enabled this type of communication.

If you aren’t a native English speaker, it is very easy to get these phrases confused, so keep these things in mind while going through your IELTS preparation.

Passing the IELTS isn’t that hard to do at all. With the right IELTS preparation you should have no problem getting a high enough score to pass. There are numerous ways to prepare for this test in order to ensure success. Once you feel you’ve had enough preparation it may be best to take the test as soon as possible while the information is still fresh.
