Memory foam itself has been around for longer than most people think. Believe it or not, it was the brain child of a NASA engineer named Charles Yost. The aim was to create a more comfortable and versatile aircraft cushion, but it was in fact never used. It wasn’t a complete loss however, as NASA did release the material to the public several years later.
It’s had numerous uses from the time when NASA made it available to the public in the 1980’s, although it was somewhat difficult to manufacture at first. It’s grown to be a mainstay of the bedding industry, becoming very popular in a relatively short period of time.
