Treatments For 7 Dry Skin Causes

If you’ve got dry skin it’s annoying isn’t it? What causes dry skin? What can you do about it? Here’s 8 dry skin causes and their solutions.

Dry skin conditions can result from a wide range of factors. In fact more than a dozen factors cause dry skin conditions, some of them very rare.

And you’d be very surprised at how common dry skin is, especially as we grow older, and so there are so many people searching for dry skin treatments. Some dry skin conditions are easy to treat, some not so easy.

And dry skin can be so annoying. Your skin can be flaky and red, painful, swollen full and in many cases extremely itchy.

Normal skin has it’s own layer of naturally occurring oils. These are produced by the skin and help protect our skin. But when this layer of protective oils is removed for one reason or another it causes the symptoms known as dry skin.

So lets look at some dry skin causes. Theres some that are easy to treat, and some not so easy.

1. Long hot baths. Now of course like most women you love that bath as hot as you can stand it and for as long as you have the time. But that bath is stripping away those natural skin oils. A shower is better, not for as long and not as hot.

2. Skin care products and cosmetics. You might find it hard to believe but many big name skin care products and cosmetics have ingredients in them that are not at all good for your skin. If this is news to you spend a little time on google researching dangerous skin care products and cosmetics.

There are many ingredients found in big name products that actually dry your skin. Mineral oil is an example. It is a petrochemical product used in skin care products because it is cheap and it actually dries and damages your skin.

You are much better using high quality natural skin care products that won’t damage your skin and will help you overcome your dry skin problem much more effectively.

3. Exposure to the sun. Sunburn is very damaging to the skin. It dries it out and can cause skin cancer. Avoid sunburn like the plague.

4. Weather. Dry cold weather can dry your skin, so if you live in a place where you get very cold dry winters you may get dry skin in winter. More humid summers and it may go away. Use a high quality natural moisturizer or even better a fully formulated natural skin care range that is designed to combat skin dryness.

5. Soaps and detergents. These can dry your skin, particularly modern big name soaps and shampoos. These also contain ingredients that can be damaging to your skin. Avoid soaps that lather a lot and leave your skin feeling squeaky clean. Avoid deodorizing soaps and soaps with anti bacterial ingredients. Use natural soaps with no fragrances or deodorizing and keep changing them till you find the right one for you.

6. Medical conditions like psoriasis, and drugs. There is a range of different medical conditions that can cause dry skin. For conditions like psoriasis and eczema consult your doctor, and be aware as well that there are some drugs that can also cause dry skin conditions.

7. Avoid itchy clothes, they too can cause skin dryness.

So, those are 7 dry skin causes, what dry skin treatments are there? Well of course it goes without saying that for medical conditions you ought to see a doctor. But in many cases this isn’t necessary.

I have already suggested some dry skin treatments that will work for some. Keep showers shorter and cooler, use more natural soaps and shampoos, try soaps out until you find a good one for you. And be aware of choosing natural alternatives to any product that you put on your skin. They are often cheaper and safer.

And consider using a range of natural skin care products. The best natural skin care products contain natural oils like avocado oil and Babassu oil from the nut of the Babassu tree, both excellent and perfectly safe natural moisturizers. These will do wonders for any dry skin conditions.

It may sound counter intuitive but the best natural skin care products on the market are actually very cost competitive to the big brands skin care ranges, not to mention working better and being safer. This is because they are made by a company that doesn’t advertise on TV, so doesn’t need to factor the huge costs of TV advertising into their products.

So there’s 7 dry skin causes, many of which you can treat with some of the dry skin treatments I’ve suggested here. Combine all the strategies I’ve suggested together with a regime of high quality natural skin care products and you’re well on your way to successfully combating that most annoying dry skin.

Laser Hair Removal

By now you’ve seen the billboards and the commercials touting laser hair removal as the next big thing in grooming, but how does it really work. And how well does it work? Here’s a look at the workings behind laser hair removal.

As indicated in the name, laser hair removal uses a burst of laser light to kill the hair. The laser is attracted to melanin, thus if the hair is dark a larger amount of the light is drawn to it and is more likely to kill it. The hairs that have been affected should fall out shortly after treatment.

Due to the way it works, the best candidate for laser hair removal is one with light skin and dark hair. The lasers at this time do not work on blond or gray hairs. In addition, since melanin is targeted, you will probably not be able to have this procedure if you have dark skin, since you may suffer burns.

The procedure is not usually significantly painful, but there can be some discomfort. Most will say it feels like a rubber band snapping against their skin. If you are feeling a significant amount of pain, the operator can give you a topical numbing cream to put on the area prior to treatment.

Your hair goes through different phases of growth, meaning that you will need multiple treatments to target each follicle. Your clinic may offer packages for these treatments, so it is a good idea to ask.

With this system you will be getting permanent hair reduction, meaning you may not lose all your hairs, and some of them may regrow over time. Going in for touchups is not uncommon to combat this response.

There is some risk of side effects. Some people will experience redness or discomfort in the area for a short while after treatment. A few will suffer from burns. Others may experience hyperpigmentation of their skin, which may or may not fade over time. It is important to consider these risks before making any choices.

Laser hair removal is effective and simple, but it is not entirely risk free. Be sure to know the facts and find a skilled professional, rather than just the clinic that offers the lowest price.

Homemade Facial Scrubs

Homemade facial scrubs are a great way to save money and to nourish your skin if its sensitive to store bought products. Homemade facial scrubs that contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are the best because they help dissolve and exfoliate dead skin cells which make the skin look dull and clog the pores. By exfoliating the skin, you also improve absorption of creams and moisturizers.

Alpha hydroxy acids are found in lots of simple fruits and foods including milk, lemons, oranges, pineapples, tomatoes and vinegar. An AHA cleanser is great for dry skin because it clears the skin of dead cells allowing for better and deeper penetration of moisturizers. And yet, they are equally good for oily skin because they help dissolve excess oils and trapped dirt in the pores.

To mix up your own Dry skin homemade facial cleanser - mix 2-3 tablespoons of whole fat milk (or low fat) and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Make a paste and apply to the face in circular scrubbing motions. Rinse well. and apply a good moisturizerlike an olive oil moisturizer.

Apply a good moisturizer like an olive oil moisturizer or a water-proof, clinically approved moisturizer for severely dry skin . After exfoliation is a great time to apply a good moisturizer, because the skin is ready to absorb it much better.

For oily skin your homemade cleanser should contain - 2 tablespoons of baking soda along with either lemon juice or tomato juice. If you have lots of blotches and red spots, use the lemon juice. Mix enough juice so that you can form a thick paste. Rub this paste well all over your face including your nose and cheek area where you tend to have the most oil or blackheads and whiteheads.

Make sure to rinse very well and apply a moisturizer especially formulated for oily skin. You don’t want to over dry the skin. This only causes more oil to be produced and is the biggest mistake those with oily skin make.

A homemade cleanser for normal skin - can include any type of AHA you have in the house, just as long as you add a mild abrasive like sugar, oatmeal, baking soda or crush almonds. Sources of AHA include: milk (low fat or whole), lemons, oranges, pineapples, vinegar, and yogurt.

Mix the two ingredients into a fine paste and massage over the whole face and neck. Make sure you rinse very well with cool water and follow immediately with a good moisturizer. Your skin will feel GREAT!

Cellulite Treatment Creams - Will They Work for You?

Cellulite treatment creams have been on the market for a few years now. These creams vary widely in price and effectiveness. Are they worth your time and effort? The answer can depend on your expectations. Cellulite treatment creams can be a great way to tone and firm your skin without painful surgeries or spa treatments.

A couple big brands come to mind when it comes to these creams. A product that has been popular for several years now is Nivea’s Goodbye Cellulite Cream. This brand has paired up with MTV recently to offer a contest to women willing to try their product. The Hello Bikini Challenge offers a 4 week plan for women looking to tone their skin and get rid of their cellulite.

Another big brand associated with cellulite creams is Revitols Cellulite Solution. This brand is one of the more expensive products on the market. Does this make it any more effective? Not really - sometimes price has nothing to do with how well a cosmetic product will work! On the other hand, some products are worth the money you will spend on them.

To have any success with cellulite creams, you need to be willing to apply them on a regular basis. It is recommended that a massaging technique be used to apply the cream to your skin. Massage has been shown to be effective for reducing the appearance of cellulite. This is due to the fact that a deep massage will release toxins and fluids that build up under the skin. These can lead to cellulite!

Another important part of success with cellulite creams is your ability to apply them at least twice a day for at least four to six weeks. As with many cellulite treatments, the creams can take some time to work. Women who are dedicated to applying the cream on a regular basis will most likely see results. It can be difficult to find the time to apply the cream twice a day however!

One of the advantages of a cellulite cream is that you don’t need to use it year round. If price is an issue, you can buy the treatment creams only in the summer months when you are wearing shorter clothes. By starting to apply a cellulite treatment cream in April or May, you will be ready to hit the beach by June. This is also a great option for women who are strapped for time. However women living in warmer climates might find that they need to use a cellulite cream on a regular basis.

Mainly composed of ingredients such as caffeine and sea minerals, cellulite creams work to smooth out the skin in problem areas. You can also wear cellulite reduction shorts and wraps to help the creams sink in more fully.

Are cellulite creams able to penetrate the cells deeply enough to give results? Some doctors remain skeptical. However cellulite creams do seem to be able to provide some toning to the skin. Women with advanced cellulite may find that they need a stronger treatment to really see results. Regardless of the scientific studies, the best way to figure out if a cellulite cream works for you is to try one! At the worst, youll have moisturized skin. At best, you will lessen the appearance of your cellulite!

Ladies are you ready to put on a swim suit and head to the pool this season? Many women are depressed due to excess weight, untoned muscles and cellulite. At Your Cellulite Solution you will find lots of info to help you get rid of cellulite. You will also find more information on Cellulite Treatment Creams.

How To Get Rid Of The Bags Under Your Eyes.

As you age are you finding dark bags and circles under your eyes?

One of the biggest questions asked by women who are interested in aging skin care is about bags under eyes. Causes are varied, and there are solutions, to today I thought wed look at how to reduce bags under eyes that are getting older, and the causes of under eye bags.

So what causes these unsightly dark looking sagging bags under your eyes? Well of course the easy answer is that its age, but thats the easy answer.

Lets dig a little deeper than that, because not all women suffer, and theres reasons for that too. So why do some women get bags under their eyes and others dont?

As you age your skin ages of course, and this skin aging process causes a slow decline of 2 essential skin proteins.

Skin elasticity is what helps keep your skin in place and as you age your skin stores of collagen and elastin start to decline, and they’re primarily responsible for your skin elasticity.

Less skin elasticity equals more skin sagging, lines and wrinkles because your skin is less able to hold itself in place like it did when it was younger.

These of course, are the general factors that cause skin aging, but lets see what factors there are to your eyes forming bags and circles.

1. Puffiness under the eyes.

Puffiness under the eyes is usually caused by a build up of fluid under the eyes. This can be caused by a number of factors like poor fluid drainage and fragile capillaries. If capillaries break, for example, fluid can leak into the flesh under the eyes and this starts to cause that puffy dark look. And loss of skin elasticity contributes to it too.

2. Medical causes.

There are also medical causes of bagging under the eyes, and so its always worth a visit to the doctor too. For example kidney and thyroid problems can cause this.

So how do you get rid of bags under the eyes?

Step 1.

Firstly eliminate the possibility of medical problems, then start on step 2.

You need to use high quality skin care products that are designed to reduce the loss of collagen and elastin in your skin and you need to source a product that combats the specific causes of bags and circles under the eyes.

There are now some excellent products that work extremely well to restore the balance of elastin and collagen in your skin, though sadly most don’t.

Some products attack the problem of loss of collagen and elastin by putting them in the bottles, but this doesn’t work.

One skin care product though tackles this differently by promoting more collagen and elastin production in the skin, and this works much better.

Step 2.

Use a product specifically designed to combat the causes of bags under the eyes. There is an Eye Contour Gel that does this very well.

This product uses a range of different ingredients targeted at under eye bagging, like Eyeliss and Haloxyl, both of which have been shown in studies to work very fast at reducing under eye bagging.

Combine these 2 ingredients into one product and you have an extremely powerful product that will work at reducing dark bags under the eyes very fast.

If you do that then you should get effective results fast.

Find out on my website which product works this well.
