Lost Luggage - You Can Reduce The Risk On A Vacation Flight
Posted by Dorothy Yamich | Filed under 1
Whether you have flown on flights for business, or holidays and vacations, you may have lost luggage or know of people that have. Here are some travel tips that can help you reduce this risk.
It is estimated that more than a million bags are lost by commercial airlines each year in the United States alone. How much luggage that get lost in the whole world is anybody’s guess. Here are some tips that may help you recover your bags if they are ever lost.
Attach two or three tags with your name, home address, and phone number to the handle and the zipper-pulls of each bag that you are checking. There is less of a chance that all of the tags could get torn off during transit. You should make sure that you have removed any old airline tags that are still attached to the luggage you’re checking as they could confuse the baggage handlers.
Be sure to place the same contact information, including a copy of your itinerary and your destination address inside each piece luggage. That way, if they do get lost and are found in time, they could be forwarded to your hotel.
If you can, pick luggage with preferably a bright or odd color that will stand out from all of the black and brown bags. Know the brand name of the luggage that you own and attach a colorful scarf or ribbon to the handle to make identification easier. Stick a few decals or a contrasting colored tape to all of the sides of the bags so they can be easier to see as it goes around the carousel. Remember these details, or even better, take a digital picture of your luggage just before you leave and bring it with you. This will also help the lost luggage airport staff in finding your bags if they become lost in transit and turn up at their office. It will also help if you have to make a claim.
It will help if you make a list of what you are carrying in your luggage and put that list in you carry-on bag. The chance of your luggage going astray in transit increases when you are on connecting, or delayed flights. You should pack all of your valuables, including your laptop, Blackberry, travel documents, prescriptions, etc., in your carry-on bag. It is best to pack only the things you can afford to lose in your checked baggage. Many analysts believe that the airline industry’s problem of lost luggage is not going to be resolved anytime soon.
What can you do your luggage gets lost?
Go right away to the baggage claim office and file a claim. Many airlines have a twenty-four hour window of time that starts from when your flight arrives to file and be eligible for compensation. You will get a claim receipt to check the tracking of your luggage with your airline by phone, or on the airline’s website. Make sure you keep your flight documents until the lost luggage mix up has been resolved.
How can you guarantee that the airlines will not lose your luggage?
There are a number of companies that will send your luggage in the U.S., such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL, directly to your hotel or destination address for a reasonable cost. If you are staying in a hotel, your luggage will be brought to your room. When you consider that in the U.S. alone, well over a million bags are lost by the airlines every year, this service may be well worth considering. If you are traveling by air through Europe, FirstLuggage.com, has a similar service.

Having A Safe And Fun Holiday In Australia
Posted by Jason Hall | Filed under Travel
While traveling to the Tropical North Queensland region in Australia it may be difficult to find your way around, especially when you are unfamiliar with the area. You should tale some time to get yourself prepared for any issues that may happen to your vehicle or yourself during your travels. By being properly prepared you will be able to fully enjoy your vacation without any worries or fears.
Begin by choosing a reliable car hire company. Choosing a company with a newer fleet and with vehicles that have less mileage on them will help allow the peace of mind that you will be traveling around in a reliable vehicle that is free of mechanical problems. Having a vehicle that is reliable is the first key to safe traveling in the Outback.
Once you have yourself a reliable vehicle, you should then begin to prepare yourself in case of an emergency. Start by getting some current maps of the areas you will be visiting. Then you will want to put some extra water in your vehicle, in case your car brakes down and you need to wait for an extended period of time for a tow truck or roadside service. Then you will want to make sure that you have a first aid kit available at all times, nothing to elaborate, just the basics.
Finally, you will want to make sure that you have a cell phone with a Sim card, as this will allow you to call international numbers while visiting the Queensland region. Make sure that you program into your phone emergency numbers as well as contact information for your hotel and car hire company. This will help you get help if you need it.
In the event that you do break down or experience difficulties while driving in the Tropical North make sure to stay with your vehicle. Do not wander off to seek help, doing so can be very risky since there is a lot of land to cover and many regions are very desolate. Staying with your vehicle until help arrives is always your best move and will help keep you safe. Traveling in this region can be a wonderful adventure, but make sure if you take off on a day trip that you let someone know where you are going and when you plan to return, this will help authorities to find you if you can’t call for help yourself.

Reasons to Visit Greece
Posted by Isabella Olsen | Filed under Travel
Greece is a country with numerous contributions to modern civilization, perhaps more than any country. It is the cradle of democracy, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and home to many of the most brilliant philosophers, scientists, writers and artists that the world has ever produced, such as Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Archimedes, Euclid, Euripedes and Praxiteles. True, most of these contributions may not be tangible. However, those that are can only be seen or best experienced when you visit Greece.
1. Archaeological Sites
Many people visit Greece just for its ancient monuments, which, for the civilization they represent, is reason enough. Indeed, though in ruins, each monument holds a charm of its own, transporting visitors back to a glorious age of gods and heroes. The most impressive and important monument of ancient Greece, the Parthenon, can be found in the Athens Acropolis, where you can also find the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erectheion, while the largest Greek temple, the Olympeion or Temple of Olympian Zeus can be found just outside. You will also find the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion in southern Athens.
If you are truly interested in archaeology, you shouldn’t stop at Athens, though, since there are many impressive sites and monuments in other cities, as well. In fact, some cities like Delphi, Delos and Olympia are archaeological sites in themselves. Some of the most remarkable monuments outside Athens include the Temple of Demeter at Naxos, the Temple of Epicurian Apollo at Vassae and the ruins of the Knossos Palace in Crete.
There are many excellent archaeological museums all over Greece, too, to help you learn more about its ancient history and culture, like the Athens National Archaeological Museum, which is the largest museum in Greece, the Delphi Museum, the Thera Prehistoric Museum and the Heraklion Museum, which contain artifacts, particularly sculptures and statues, from its archaeological sites.
2. Idyllic Beaches
Warm, turquoise waters, white sand, a dramatic backdrop and excellent facilities - you will find these in most Greek beaches, which is why they are considered among the best in the world. Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia, Trahili Beach in Chios and Navagio Beach in Zakynthos top the list, although there are dozens of other Blue Flag beaches. If you want to take your clothes off, there are nudist beaches in Greece, too, like Banana Beach in Skiathos and if you brought your snorkelling equipment, you will find many sea caves to explore. In fact, no matter what kind of beach you have in mind, you’re sure to find it in Greece.
3. Greek Cuisine
If you’ve eaten at a Greek restaurant before, you probably have an idea of what you will eat when you visit Greece, although the dishes you will find here are of course, tastier and more authentic. Many dishes are made with olives or olive oil, like the traditional Greek Salad, cabbage salad and spinach stew, while some are served with feta cheese - both of which are popular Greek products. Meat lovers won’t be disappointed, either, since Gyros, Souvlaki and oven-baked lamb can be found almost anywhere and the same goes for Greek wine and beer.
4. Nightlife
While Greece is a country steeped in history, it definitely does not live in the past, as you will see for yourself when you visit Greece. In contrast to the quiet of its ancient monuments, Greece has a large number of clubs and bars where you can dance, drink or simply listen to all types of great music all night, even until seven in the morning if you want, especially in Athens, Mykonos, Skiathos, Rhodes and Samos.
5. The Greek Movie Experience
Are you a movie buff? If so, you should definitely visit Greece, where several great movies were filmed. These include the James Bond movie ‘For Your Eyes Only’ which featured the spectacular Aghia Triatha monastery at Meteora, ‘Shirley Valentine’ which was filmed mostly on Mykonos, ‘Zorba the Greek’ which has scenes filmed in Crete and recently, ‘Mamma Mia!’ with some scenes shot on Skopelos and the Pelion coast of mainland Greece.

Tanning Bulbs
Posted by Gail Jones | Filed under Health & Fitness
Tanning bed bulbs are used in each sun bed or suntan lamp in the shops. When you are buying a new or especially a used tanning bed, make a good examination of the lamps. Ensure that they are proper tanning lamps and comply with the FDA guidelines with regard to health and safety. You should also estimate how easy it is to get at the lamps. Make sure that the bulbs are not difficult to change when necessary. It is very important, and a lot cheaper, if you can carry out such simple maintenance yourself, if you buy a home sun bed.
There are two very different, non-interchangeable sorts of lamps used in low pressure and high pressure beds. You need to ensure you buy the right sun bed bulbs for your sun bed, because you cannot use just any bulb you like. If you are ordering replacement bulbs on the Internet, check the make and model of your existing lamps very carefully, because you have to ensure that the bulbs you are ordering are made for your bed.
High Pressure Sunbed Bulbs: high pressure beds use quartz lamps in a variety of sizes. The gases used in these lamps are pressurized to slightly higher than atmospheric pressure. The bulbs in these beds are located in the top of the bed, so that you tan from above only. When you have tanned the skin on one side of your body for about 10-12 minutes, you turn over and tan the other side. The flat bed of these devices is a lot more comfortable than a conventional sun bed.
The biggest benefit of these bulbs is the short time you have to spend on the bed. Since you tan faster, you need to spend less time in the salon, which means it works out cheaper. You can achieve the level of tan you require in about three weeks of three to five sessions a week. With a conventional bed, it would take you at least a month to achieve the same depth of colour. Maintaining your tan is much easier too. You only need two or three sessions a month to maintain the colour, compared with that many sessions every week on a low pressure bed. Many of these lamps use UVA rays only, not UVB rays which are responsible for burning.
Conventional Sun Bed Bulbs: Conventional, or low pressure beds use long tube lamps that resemble household fluorescent tubes. The lamps are situated above and below the bed of the sun bed, which means that all areas are tanned at the same time, without the need to change positions during the session.
Conventional beds use UVA and UVB rays in varying levels. Some use both rays and others emit mostly UVA with some UVB rays. UVA rays are the cause of the (premature) ageing effects on the skin and UVB rays are the burning rays that produce skin burn when you are outside in the sun. It is very important to determine which type of rays your sun bed’s bulbs emit. You must ensure you replace your existing bulbs with bulbs of the same specifications after about 1,000 hours of use.
Something else to think about when selecting the type of bed you use at home or in the salon, is the tanning bed lotion you will use. Different lotions suit different sorts of beds. The staff at your tanning salon will be able to help you select a lotion that will work for the bed you are using and your skin type. Regardless of the bed you use, you ought to definitely always use a lotion or a cream, because they will nourish your skin and help you get a Hollywood tan more quickly.

Jewelry is very desirable but they are so expensive. That’s why this page is so valuable for those who are looking for a few tips in saving money on those bling.
Online auctions are a great place to begin. At least if you don’t find the piece you want or it is out of your price range, you will get an idea of how much the going price is.
The pawn shop is a great place to buy jewelry because they have too much inventory right now as no one is able to get them back without cash. If you have the dough, talk to them to get some jewelry on the cheap.
Ask around. Not many of your friends will know but one of two of them will probably be jewelry experts. They can tell you the cheapest place to buy, and the place that will give you the best service too.
Most people look at the upfront price but consider the servicing costs. Some stores will give you lifetime cleaning services for free which can add up.
You can get great deals on jewelry at flea markets or yard sales. Verify that you are getting the genuine article and not some concoction of base metals and glass.
Craft fairs are a great way to buy jewelry because the dealers are honest and the prices are great. You may even learn a thing or two about jewelry that will benefit you for life.
Most people will go to a jewelry store because of the advertisements but this is a usually a mistake. Where do you actually think the cost of advertising is covered?
Buying jewelry on TV or at the mall is a sure way to pay top prices for mediocre quality. The advertising are so expensive that they have to make their money back somehow.
There’s pure gold and there’s some other type of gold. Not every one is the same so make sure you know the difference before you commit to the price as cost will vary significantly.
