4 Great Places To Look For Excellent Deals On Gifts This Xmas
Posted by Ellie Evergreen | Filed under Home & Family
Something I have learned from recent shopping for my loved ones this holiday season is that you can never know where you can find some great deals for gifts. The process really surprised me since I was supposed to have already researched many of the places where you could not only find a great discount but get interesting and inspired gift choices. A single weekend shopping expedition shattered my preconceptions and gave me some real life experience that can also help you in your shopping. Here are some of the interesting places I found great gifts.
The first place was at discount Stores like Rugged Warehouse and Marshall’s. These were store that I knew and often visited since they had great deals on name brand clothes that I would normally pass on if I found them at the mall. However, I found myself impressed with the wide selection of holiday products and gifts that I found at both of these stores. At Rugged I found a wide variety of holiday gifts and treat that were not only beautiful but quite unique and interesting. Some of them my family gave at a gift exchange with some surprising results. We were very strict with our spending purchasing items that had a price under $5. But many of the products were from much more prestigious stores and were originally as high as $29.
The Dollar store came through once again. These stores are really striving to serve the one stop for just about everything you can think off and all them for a dollar or just a little more. The key is in the variety. You should go in looking from something interesting that doesn’t cost much not for an item that has high quality; nevertheless, you may find some very surprising finds. Some of the most well received gifts so far this season for me actually came from here. It just needed me to be more imaginative in what I picked.
Wal-Mart is a gimme but Sam’s Club and other big box stores are a great place to shop this season. If you have not gotten your membership do so immediately. There were some excellent savings on electronics, toys, and even some recreation items that your entire family can enjoy. Also if you need to buy in bulk for your family this holiday season, they are a great place to look. Your family will thank you (or Santa) for the high quality presents they receive and you will be feeling great about all the money that you saved.
A good place to look is in the men’s section or the special holiday displays at big retail stores like JC Penney. I often find great gifts here. If you want to find a gift that would be great for your husband or father this is the place you go. It likes a grown man’s toy store. There are some many interesting gadgets that you can purchase for a reasonable price. The same goes for some of the holiday items for kids and women. The important thing to do is to keep a sharp eye out for out of the ordinary displays. You never know when you might find a great gift.
Something special you can do for your children is to have Santa Clause call them. This is great for the parent who wants to keep their kids from knowing you; the parents are the ones that get the presents. You can set up the call online for a great price and give your kids a cherished holiday memory.

3 Important Tips You Should Follow Paying For Holiday Gifts
Posted by Ellie Evergreen | Filed under Home & Family
This holiday season families everywhere are starting to shop for the presents that they will give their loved ones this Christmas. However this is the second Christmas that is occurring during the current recession and many families are feeling the pinch in their finances. This means that when a parent does holiday shopping, they have to shop smart. One of the most important ways of doing just that is to pay attention to the way you pay for items this holiday season. The financial collapse that occurred in 2008 further confirmed just how dangerous it can be to blindly rely on the products provided by financial institutions. If they don’t drive you into bankruptcy they can still ruin your credit history and limit your ability to make other important purchases later during the rest of the year. So it becomes absolutely important to know what to avoid when making your holiday purchases.
One of the first things you need to make sure to do is to pay cash at every opportunity. Cash does not have any hidden fees or payments attached to it. You just have the straight forward transaction of buying the item you want. So if you were fortunate to save some money for holiday shopping, use this first. Also in the end it is just financially responsible to avoid using any payment method that involves buy now, pay later. Also the most interesting thing is that a month is still a decent amount of time to save and put aside money for buying your kids’ toys. Just look at what they want to get and see if there is a reasonable saving plan that can be developed.
Something that many consumer protections sites and guides are saying this holiday season is to be care about using debit cards. While they have proven most of the time to be a reasonable alternative to using credit cards, banks that are now looking to make up lost income are thinking about attaching new fees to debit card transactions. Also there is the glaring problem of the one hidden fee that most debit users overlook. That is the overdraft fee. Simply by going over by just a couple cents can have you paying fees of $35 or more per transaction done beyond your account balance. This is especially dangerous when purchasing items for the Christmas. Since you will likely have a long list of things to buy the chance of incurring an overdraft is much higher unless you are paying very close attention to your account balance. So if you are going to use your debit card be aware of these pitfalls and keep a personal tally of what you have and what you spend.
Credit cards are something everyone is getting more wary of using these days. Since bad credit can ruin the chances of consumers getting large loans for homes and school many families are now trying to pay down debt and avoid making purchases that will imperil credit if resources are restricted more than normal. So if you are using a credit card try to have a least 50% of what you plan set aside for immediate payment in cash. This will drastically lower your principal and minimum payments. Also budget for paying off the remaining balance as soon as possible and only use it for major purchases where it makes sense to do so.
Something you can do for your children this Christmas that cost little is to give them a letter from Santa Clause. You can make one yourself or even order one online and have it customized for authenticity. It will be sure to make Christmas all the more magical

Reinforcing the Belief in Santa Claus with Santa Gifts and a Santa Evidence Kit
Posted by Ellie Evergreen | Filed under Home & Family
As children get older, they eventually reach an age where they begin to wonder if Santa Claus is real or not. For some, this age comes earlier than others. Sometimes, younger children hear the older ones talking about it at school. Others stumble across the gifts that were bought and hidden to be placed under the tree from Santa. Sometimes, it is possible for a parent to convince the children that Santa is real despite their questions. This usually requires some props for assistance. A couple of examples of props that can help reinforce a child’s belief in Santa are Santa gifts and a Santa evidence kit.
When people think Santa gifts, they usually envision a pile of presents under a Christmas tree on Christmas morning that Santa is supposed to have brought the night before. In this particular case, Santa gifts means, any category of gifts that commemorate Santa Claus. Craft kits that are based on the image of Santa Claus, activity pads centered on the Santa Claus and the North Pole workshop theme, and other Santa centric items fall into this category. Having several different Santa gifts on hand will help to convince the children of the reality of Santa Claus by virtue of the amount of imagery that has sprung up that is based on his image. The craft kits also provide an opportunity for the adults to work with the children and discuss the issue if the children desire.
A Santa evidence kit can be a very effective prop if used properly. These kits can be put together at home or bought commercially. The commercial versions are probably better simply by virtue of what items are included. A good Santa evidence kit will include several personally identifiable items that could only belong to Santa Claus. Perhaps a single black glove, a pair of spectacles of the type most Santas have been seen wearing, an ornate thank you card for the cookies, Santa’s sleigh driver’s license, and an award for the best decorated tree would make a good kit. Of course, the placement of the evidence for the children to find is more important than the exact contents of the Santa evidence kit. Taking great care to place the “evidence” in a manner that makes it appear that Santa has dropped these things can be strong reinforcing of a child’s belief in the jolly old elf.
Children are growing up so fast these days it can be frightening to adults. They often begin to question the existence of Santa Claus at earlier ages than parents are prepared for. In many cases, these questions are prompted by something seen or heard and not by any actual loss of belief. Yet, at these times, parents may feel a need to reinforce the child’s belief. This usually requires the use of some kind of props. Two things that make good props for this type of mission are Santa gifts and a Santa evidence kit.

5 Christmas Suggestions for Video Game Presents
Posted by Aaron H. | Filed under Home & Family
One of the hottest items this year for kids will be video games. With new more interactive consoles and a more computer literate generation of children the video game genre has expanded beyond just older boy to include both boys and girls of all ages. Video game companies have done this by providing games to appeal to different people’s interests. As you look for games for your younger children here are some tips to help you choose for your younger kids as well.
An important thing to consider is the rating for the game. Just like how you make sure that you monitor what your children watch on TV or at the Movie theater, you need to look for games that are age appropriate and not to extreme or violent. A great system to look to that has games like this is the Nintendo Wii. It has a lot of child friendly games such as Wii Sports or the iconic Mario brothers games that are fun, challenging, and not too violent or have graphic images. The other systems such as PS3 and XBOX 360 have some good offering as well. Just make sure to research what age appropriate games they offer.
Another big video game favorite are handhelds. These are games that can be played on portable systems. The technology on handheld video games have advanced to the point of them becoming smaller versions of full consoles. If your child already has a PSP or Gameboy DS a good idea is to pay attention to new game releases or ask what games their friends are playing. This will be a great indicator of what your kids want.
Another thing to be aware of is the wide range of games available for both boys and girls. For boys there are the traditional fighting and adventure games. However a growing genre of girls video games have started to emerge. They are based of popular toy franchise such as Barbie and popular girls TV shows such as Hannah Montana and Sunny with a Chance. So if you are looking for something that will be popular with the girls in your family then this is definitely the way to go.
Then there are group games. These are party games that can be played by more than one person. These are great for families looking for games that everyone can play together. There are a lot of games that fit this bill such as Dance Dance Revolution and Rock Band. These are games where people match dance steps, or notes in competition or as group. Multiplayer games also fall under this category. Try to look for fun age appropriate games such as racing that all your children can play together.
On top of this if your kids are still young enough to believe in Santa there are extra thing you can do with presents to make things more special. One is stocking stuffers. For the gamers in your family you can make memory cards and other console accessories as great stocking stuffers. Another thing is to include a letter from Santa. This is for your kids who wrote a letter with their present request. There are actually some good online store that can deliver the letter for you. All you have to do is create the letter online and order it.

5 Wise Suggestions for Holiday Shopping
Posted by Aaron Hu | Filed under Home & Family
This holiday season it may be tricky to know what to get your kids. First there is the fact that there are so many toys to choose from and who is to say that if you get one item your children wanted they might have really wanted to get something else even more? There is also the fact that you may not have the same funds that you had in previous Christmases. As a parent you don’t want to disappoint your child so how do you deal with both concerns? Here are some great tips to help you navigate shopping for Christmas presents. These suggestions will give you some options that help you not feel so limited this Christmas.
Ask your kids what are the items they want for Christmas. Have them show you online or in store publication exactly what they are looking for. The more information you have on the item the better prepared you will be and be able to make the decision about whether it is worth it to buy it. For younger children this is great because using pictures will allow younger children who can’t describe what they want very well to show you what they want you to get. Knowing what your kids want will be sure to help make your holiday shopping that much easier.
Look for sales at major retailers both at store and online. The great thing about this holiday is that it will be a buyer’s market. You will find that prices and sales will be much more generous than normal because stores will want to clear inventory and use the holiday season to restore sales for the entire year. If you know where to look, this means you will be blessed with great opportunities to find great toys and gifts at prices that are quite affordable. This will definitely be a boon for your pocketbook.
Make sure you have different payment options under your belt to give you better purchasing power. The biggest mistake a parent and shopper can make during the holiday season is to rely too much on credit. Look to programs like layaway and online shopping to help give you the advantage you need to purchase needed presents and gifts. You will find yourself much happier after Christmas ends.
Shop early and often. Shopping early allows you to take advantage of special sales especially like the ones that happen right after Thanksgiving. You can also take the time you need to look at stores if the item you are looking for is out of stock or not on sale. This is great because if you actually need to do the last minute shopping you will have more chances to take advantage of reduced prices and other discounts with a lot less stress. It is better to be doing that for one or two items rather than your entire holiday shopping list.
Another thing you can do is to add a little magic to Christmas for your kids. A great way to do this is with a letter from Santa. The best part is that you can order one online and have it sent by mail to your house. The process normally allows you to personalize your children’s letters with their accomplishments and some of the things that they wanted for Christmas from Santa. This is great because the letter will seem like a reply to the letters they sent to Santa Claus. You will not be suspected of being Santa and you will have some touching mementos to hold on to when they grow older.
Create magic in your child’s eyes with our letters from Santa & Santa calls. EZSantaLetters.com offers fully personalized Santa letters and 15 pre-written Santa letters. All letters are postmarked from the North Pole and will definitely put a smile on your child’s face.

5 New Affordable Toy Trends for Xmas 2009
Posted by Ellie Evergreen | Filed under Home & Family
This Christmas there are a wide variety of toys that are available on the market. This gives you the chance to get the items that are on your children’s wish lists. It also gives you the opportunity to find toys and games that will fit your holiday budget. A lot of toys even if they are name brands will be well within your spending limits this holiday shopping season. You just have to know where to look. Here are some great suggestions that will give you the most value for your money.
Video games are fast becoming one of the dominant items on kid’s list of toys during the holiday. New technology and more game titles are making them even more appealing. The three main consoles that most parents have been wracking their brain to get have been the Sony Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, and the Xbox 360. What makes this holiday shopping season different is that this will be the first holiday season that all three of the major game systems will see a price cut. There are also some anticipated games that will be released as well. If you have not purchased a system yet a good option is the Nintendo Wii. Its motion sensor controls makes game play easy to learn and it has wide selection of games that will appeal to every member of your family.
Board games are also an affordable option that is improving. The board games have been around for centuries if not millennia and even with video games they are still popular. There are still many kinds on the market that make great presents for your kids. Games like Monopoly even have different versions that can be custom made for movies, schools, and even have an electronic version. Board games are a great investment because they are something that the entire family can enjoy together with numerous outcomes. This way playing the games does not become old.
Another route is Green Toys. These are toys that are made with recycled products. These are often cheaper than their regular counter parts but have the same quality. This is great because you can kill two birds with one stone. You are helping the environment while buying something affordable and still on par with what you would be normally buying for your kids. There are many examples like plastic construction toys and even stuffed animals.
Learning toys are a great value purchase for younger children. It is becoming more obvious that early education and teaching your kids the basic is important for future success in school. The big problem has been that many kids fail to learn because it isn’t fun or interesting. It is normally boring repetition and exercises. The innovation of learning toys is different. These toys not only help kids learn basic skills like reading and arithmetic, but do it using play. Many of them are basically video games or physical toys. If you want to give something that will allow your kids to learn easily these toys are definitely a good investment.
Another thing you can do is help your kids believe in Santa. A great idea is to order a personalized call from Santa Claus. These can be customized with information about your child’s good deeds for the year and what they wanted for Christmas. This is sure to be hugely popular with the kids and reaffirm their faith in Santa.
