The advent of social networking technology has expanded our ability to communicate, adding subtle dimensions to the way we send and receive information. On the cutting edge of this new paradigm are the storytellers. Utilizing multimedia communication portals such as facebook and other social networks, they are pioneering new realms of creativity.

Roleplay is an act of imagination, where you gather a group of people together, and each one assumes the role of a character. Then they act as that character, in order to further the story. Everyone adds their own perspective to the piece, and the resulting story is made up of the whole.

Social networks such as facebook were created to allow people to tell stories. You are supposed to use them to tell the story of you real life, through the use of pictures, videos, and written submissions in a variety of forms.

This storytelling function can also be used to create fictional tales. By signing up as a character, you can use all of the applications normally reserved for real people, to express the life story of the fictional person.

The story can then be told and expanded on through a series of interactions with others on the site. These can be other fictional characters, or they can be real people. The addition of extra people to the story breathes new life and energy into the tale, invigorating it.

The problem is that most of the big social networking sites expressly forbid their members from creating fictional characters. They want the site to remain a haven for real people to interact. This is often stated in their terms of service,a nd violation can result in your character being banned from the site. While this rule is usually not strictly enforced, its presence alone is enough to hamper most roleplaying endeavors.

There are however a few alternative, most notably http://www.RolePages.com was created precisely to fill this void left by the other social networks. Then you can take that character and use it to create stories by interacting across the site with other character members.

Social networks are a new frontier in the art of communication. Using them as a medium for telling stories is a trend that is just starting to catch on. As the sophistication of the technology increases the ability to create fictional works using these tools is only going to improve.

NBA Set to Impose Twitter Policy

As twitter grows, the number of people using the microblogging service has grown as well. Celebrities of all kinds use the service on the daily basis, especially athletes. Fans actively follow their favorite celebrities via Twitter.

One set of celebrities using the service religiously happens to be NBA athletes. NBA players love the service, and the widespread use of Twitter by Shaquille O’Neal has prompted many other players to use the service themselves.

Athletes enjoy the service very much, and possibly too much in fact. The NBA plans to curb players’ use of the service, putting a ban on any tweets when games are in progress or about to start.

The NFL currently limits any use of Twitter, Facebook, or any other social media device during any instances that occur between the 90 minutes before the beginning of a game, and the end of press conferences after a game.

The policy will be implemented by NBA commissioner David Stern, who claims that the news is no cause for concern, and the restrictions will be relatively minor. There’s a little uncertainty as to how a league policy may conflict with any team-specific policies though.

Twitter has been huge in the NBA world. Players like Shaquille O’Neal have used it to make jokes about players and coaches, give tickets away, and more.

Players like Michael Beasley have used it in more controversial manners, as Beasley recently allegedly posted pictures of bags of drugs, shortly before he was admitted to rehab.

While the presence of Twitter in the lives of NBA players has its ups and downs, it probably does more good than harm. Fans get the inside scoop on many of their favorite athletes from the best source possible - the athletes themselves. A responsible policy will maintain a healthy balance between what’s right and wrong.

Come and experience the best sports atmosphere online. Win awesome prizes by playing NFL pick em contests and be a part of an awesome NBA pick ‘em challenge too.
