Sleep Innovations is the company that originally created Novaform, and they have several other brands as well. Throughout their years in existence, they have been the proud creators of many visco elastic foam mattresses. For several reasons though, one of their best sellers is the Novaform mattress.
Memory foam itself has been around for longer than most people think. Believe it or not, it was the brain child of a NASA engineer named Charles Yost. The aim was to create a more comfortable and versatile aircraft cushion, but it was in fact never used. It wasn’t a complete loss however, as NASA did release the material to the public several years later.
It’s had numerous uses from the time when NASA made it available to the public in the 1980’s, although it was somewhat difficult to manufacture at first. The technique was perfected by Fagerdala World Foams of Sweden who used it to create the successful Tempurpedic mattress. It’s grown to be a mainstay of the bedding industry, becoming very popular in a relatively short period of time.
For someone who hasn’t had the opportunity to lie on a memory foam mattress, they probably have no idea why everyone makes such a big fuss over them. The truth is, the mattress can actually mold to an individual’s body, and then slowly retakes its shape when you move. This provides an extremely comfortable sleep because your body’s entire weight isn’t resting on just a few spots. Circulation isn’t cut off so you’re not forced to change position as often.
Visco elastic foam is not easy to manufacture so it tends to be relatively expensive. Because of its high demand many shady companies have sprung up producing cheap mattresses. Some are made of low quality foam or may not even be memory foam at all. This allows them to make a lot of money but the mattress won’t provide the proper support and will probably fall apart soon after you get it home. You really have to be cautious when buying one because it’s easy to get ripped off.
Due to these companies making imitation mattresses, the best place to buy would be from a place like Costco which will allow you to exchange it without a hassle. You know you’ll be getting a high quality product there, and you won’t have to worry about getting stuck with a mattress that you hate.
Another reason people buy the Novaform brand is that they’re some of the cheapest mattresses available that are made with real memory foam. They make a good entry level product for people who are interested to see what all the fuss is about. And if it turns out they hate it they can always exchange it for a regular innerspring bed like a Sealy Posturepedic.
So if you’re thinking about buying a Novaform mattress, but were hesitating because you had doubts, there’s not really any harm in trying one out. Memory foam is a great product and has helped a lot of people sleep better, but it’s not for everyone. It does have some drawbacks and is one of those things that people either love or hate.
You should also be aware that a Novaform isn’t going to be as nice or as durable as a Tempurpedic, but that’s to be expected since they cost half as much. Mattresses undergo quite a bit of wear and tear, so the old saying “you get what you pay for” holds especially true here.
