What You Must Know About Roulette

Increasingly, more and more people are beginning to enjoy the fun of playing casino games. And whilst there really is nothing like the feeling of playing in a land based casino; roulette online can be fantastic. But whichever way you play, there is not a great deal of difference as to how the basics are played.
One of the traditional games, roulette is a game centered on a large numbered wheel. Although this is somewhat oxymoronic; with the term actually being a direct translation of the French for “little wheel”. The numbers on the wheel run from 1 - 36, with the addition of one or two zeroes, depending on the version of game being played, (US has “0″ and “00″, European just the one).
As well as the wheel, a roulette table also houses the actually playing area. This is divided into two areas; for inside betting and outside betting. Inside betting allows for bets to be placed on individual numbers and combinations of numbers, whilst placing bets outside can be done on groups of numbers, on red or black and on odds or evens.
Each player places their bets, and the croupier then spins the wheel. A ball is placed, spinning in the opposite direction to the wheel, on a rail at the top of the wheel.
As each slows down; the ball will drop into a particular number on the wheel. Winning bets are determined from here; and paid out according to where each player has placed their stake.
The most straight forward bet to play is against a single number, which also returns the greatest odds, (at 35 or 36 to 1). The greater the chance of winning, the lesser the odds will be.
There are generally no restrictions to the number of bets that can be placed at any one time, though house rules, (where the individual casino can apply their own rules), can exist.
Though bets on an odd, even, red or black number seem to favor a fifty/fifty chance of winning, this is not quite the case. We have the zeroes of course, which are not paid out on these bets of course.
This is just a quick introduction to the wonderful game of roulette, and though it is very much a game of chance, it is also a great deal of fun. Just remember though, if you are betting with money that you can’t afford to lose, then you shouldn’t be making the bet at all.
